Job Summary: 

This position demonstrates outstanding R&D accomplishments and is recognized as being a subject matter expert in the area of E-liquids.  Through strong leadership and excellent technical expertise, the Vapor Product Development – E-liquids Master Scientist supports R&D and Company strategies by developing and/or leading programs.  The position collaborates within and across functions. Further, this position utilizes advanced scientific principles and theories, ingenuity and creativity to independently develop and recommend solutions to complex problems/issues where no precedent exists.  Displaying a passion for winning, this person will maintain a high level of technical competency, while supporting the development and implementation of improved and/or innovative, new tobacco products.  This person will maintain high scientific standards and integrity, while adhering to all applicable regulations and procedures.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Applies significant scientific/technical expertise as a recognized subject matter expert
  • Assists management with development of sub-functional and functional strategy.
  • Drives development of tactical plans to support strategies.
  • Responsible for identifying and utilizing emerging technologies, processes and/or science to deliver against the Company’s objectives.
  • Directs R&D studies to generate research data/results, analyzes and interprets the research data/results required to meet the technical objectives. 
  • Develops projects, determines technical objectives, makes recommendations for the selection of project staff and organizes the effort to meet technical objectives in the area of specialization. 
  • Directs efforts on a large-scale project or several small projects.
  • Leads the implementation of Company and functional initiatives within the function.
  • Establishes partnerships with various associations, academia, governmental agencies, technical and scientific consultants, etc.

Job Requirements: 


  • Bachelor of Science Degree (B.S.), Master of Science (M.S.), or Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D)  in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Science or equivalent experience.


  • Expertise in product development, vapor product development or E-liquids preferred.
  • Knowledge of vapor product manufacturing processes or other FDA-regulated industries preferred.
  • Ability to apply trouble shooting concepts and techniques
  • Experience with GMP and design control principles desired
  • Degree in Chemistry or related field preferred.


Required Skills:

  • Proficient in project management
  • Strong interpersonal skills; exercise sound, risk-based decision making
  • Strong computer, written and oral communication skills.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, SharePoint and essential computer applications.
  • Ability to apply problem solving tools to analyze data, root cause and corrective action (CAPA)
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal oversight
  • Results oriented with the ability to prioritize and multi-task to meet deadlines


Preferred Skills:

  • Strong understanding of Company objectives and their alignment with R&D's strategies.
  • Balance between strategic and tactical thinking.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead/manage multiple research projects/programs.
  • Ability to provide mentoring to lower level staff.
  • Experience with Standard Microsoft Office Professional Suite. 
  • Experience in Project Management.
