Position Description:

 

The Sr. Scientist - Business Process Management  (BPM) Appian Developer will contribute to the implementation of business processes within the Appian BPM platform to facilitate business process design, analysis, automation and optimization.  The individual will be responsible for collaborating with contracted Appian developers to gather requirements, design, develop and support of the BPM Appian applications.  The individual will also be responsible for creation of supporting technical documentation.  They may also assist with Appian application training materials as needed.  The individual must possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish collaborative relationships.  He/she must be capable of grasping technical information, systems, and business processes quickly.  They must also be capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously with extreme attention to detail. 

 

Principle Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Work with process owners and BPM Team to identify business needs and gather business requirements
  • Design, develop, modify and support Appian BPM applications alongside contracted Appian developers.
  • Design/Develop test strategies, test cases, test scenarios and test data in an Agile development environment to ensure high quality and on time deployment of business processes within the Appian platform
  • Execute manual and automated testing of business process applications
  • Support reporting requirements related to process improvements
  • Deliver projects in Agile software development methodology
  • Work closely with IT teams to design and implement integrations with other existing platforms
  • Create supporting technical documentation
  • Encourage development and use library of reusable Appian components that can be leveraged across other projects
  • Assist in creation of business process training for effective implementation and compliance
  • Work collaboratively with external Appian development partners to successfully implement Appian applications

 

Position Qualifications:  Knowledge and Experience

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or related field
  • Have a strong understanding of Java, object-oriented principles, and databases
  • Understanding and experience in Business Process Management concepts and best practices
  • Experience with process modeling tools such as Visio
  • Experience in Agile development methodology
  • Ability to master the use of new software applications and programming languages
  • The ability to interpret software user business requirements in clear software functionality requirements to achieve desired outcomes
