Description

The Senior Financial Analyst is an integral part of the RAI Benefits Accounting Finance team with career growth opportunities. This position prepares employee benefit plan audit workpapers, provides related accounting analysis and forecasts for all RAI companies and as well as support for BAT reporting.

 

Qualifications

Required

  • MBA (with Finance concentration preferred) and 2+ years of relevant experience, OR
  • MAC/CPA with 2+ years relevant experience, OR
  • Comprehensive work experience in Accounting, Financial Analysis or related field
  • Demonstrated high proficiency in PC skills and detailed knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel

Preferred

  • Public accounting experience
  • Knowledge of SAP

Principal Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with HR, Legal and Finance (Retirement Assets, Business Support, Financial Planning) to ensure employee benefit plan audits are completed by internal and regulatory deadlines and the funded status and OCI are accounted for properly in the general ledger and forecast
  • Interact with vendors including auditors, actuaries and trustees/recordkeepers to ensure benefits are properly reported/recorded
  • Develop, including financial statements, and collect documents to support the audit of employee benefit plans.  Serve as liason be auditors and RAI partners.
  • Perform analysis and testing of participant census data to support controls and annual auditor review
  • Review and update policies and procedures to ensure continual compliance and improved efficiencies
  • Provide support for management reporting to BAT

 

Tactical Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly/quarterly journal entries and account analysis for employer provided benefits to ensure benefits are reported in accordance with related regulations/principles
  • Ensure proper controls are in place to meet all regulatory requirements
  • Performs analysis & reconciliations to satisfy SOx and other internal controls
  • Update balance sheet and income statement forecasts for various accounts.  Report upcoming routine and non-routine changes to management and Financial Planning.
  • Analyzes data to support activities and makes recommendations based on findings
  • No direct or indirect reports
