This position is within Reynolds American Services Company—a subsidiary that provides support services, including compliance, HR, law, finance, information management, and more to all of the subsidiaries of RAI.

 

RAI Services Company (RAIS) is seeking a qualified Master Scientist - Clinical Studies to lead scientific oversight of clinical studies with new and existing tobacco products to support regulatory submissions and to further advance the science of tobacco harm reduction. 

The incumbent will actively collaborate with internal scientific, technical, and management teams to drive clinical study design, support study execution, and lead interpretation and dissemination of the resulting data.

The individual must be able to direct the scientific implementation of multiple projects simultaneously. The Clinical Studies Liaison will actively partner with groups across RAI operating companies, internal team members, and external vendors to ensure project deliverables and timelines are met.

The job level for this role will be determined by a combination of experience, education, and leadership skills.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review, interpret, and/or apply research concepts from the scientific literature to RAIS clinical studies.
  • Lead scientific oversight for a program of clinical studies outsourced to contract research organizations.
  • Lead, contribute to, or assist with the study design and interpretation of resulting data to support product development, regulatory submissions, and exploratory research.
  • Lead, contribute to, or assist with the preparation and publication of scientific results obtained from RAIS’s clinical studies in peer-reviewed scientific journals and present, as appropriate, at scientific meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with project study teams comprised of internal staff and external vendors.
  • Ensure that studies are designed and conducted in compliance with Good Clinical Practices (GCP) requirements, applicable FDA regulations/guidance, and RAIS standard operating procedures.

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • PhD, or Master’s degree required in psychology, neuroscience, biology, chemistry, medical science,  pharmacy, public health, toxicology, or a related discipline.
  • Three to seven years of work experience in scientific research, preferably with experience in clinical or behavioral studies.
  • Experience in publication and presentation of scientific data.

Preferred:

  • Experience with FDA regulatory submissions.

  • Ability to drive collaborative efforts cross-functionally and externally with outsourced vendors.
  • Ability to work and make decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent time management and team collaboration skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with/knowledge of tobacco research.
  • Ability to creatively contribute to key strategies at the department/division/enterprise level.
