ABOUT THE POSITION:


At RAI, the Strategy & Planning function operates as the eyes and ears of the organization.  During your summer internship, you will assist the function in delivering Marketing Research, Consumer & Trade Marketing Insights, Forecasting and Demand Planning projects that will help RJ Reynolds on the journey of transforming the Tobacco Industry.
 

As a Summer Intern, you will have Winston-Salem based assignments. The internship will provide challenging assignments and significant exposure to other company functions outside of Strategy & Planning.


MAKE AN IMPACT THIS SUMMER:


Previous Strategy & Planning Interns have:

  • Engaged with key stakeholders in our Strategy & Planning, Consumer Marketing, Trade Marketing and Finance functions to gain foundational category knowledge;
  • Performed a market basket analysis of the tobacco category for our key customers;
  • Reviewed market data obtained from a new data source and utilized it to analyze and better understand consumer purchasing patterns;
  • Leveraged market basket analysis to capture new insights around tobacco category trends and overall consumer purchasing dynamics;
  • Presented your findings and recommendations to the leadership team of our Strategy & Planning function as well as the President & CCO of RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company.

TO SUCCEED AS A STRATEGY & PLANNING INTERN IN 2019 YOU SHOULD BE:
 

  • A student who has completed core coursework toward an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Marketing Research, Statistics or Finance;
  • Proficient with MS Office desktop including advanced Excel skills;
  • A strategic, analytical and creative thinker;
  • A dynamic and innovative leader;

     

    AND SOMEONE WHO:
     

  • Has superior verbal and written communication skills;
  • Possesses a high sense of urgency and strong work ethic;
  • Displays excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Is willing to relocate to Winston-Salem, NC for the summer.

BY THE END OF YOUR INTERNSHIP YOU WILL HAVE:
 

  • Spent time with c-suite leadership during a series of leadership roundtable events
  • Gained insight into what it’s like to work here, global development opportunities and career pathways
  • Worked directly with experienced Strategy and Planning professionals on a challenging and meaningful project
  • Presented your findings and recommendations to the Strategy and Planning Function including the Leadership Team and key personnel.
